Commission a Custom Piece

Something specific in mind?

Maybe you have a favorite plant, animal, or line of scripture. Maybe you saw something in my gallery you love… and gasp! It’s been sold!

Do not fear! I do custom commissions (and I love to do them). I love to do them so much that I made a form so you can tell me about the painting you’re dreaming of. After you submit, I will contact you for a free quote and consultation.

Please note that as the artist I may refuse a commission if I do not have time, or if the request does not line up with my goals, aesthetics, or principles as an artist. If so, I will invite you to commission another talented artist whose time or inclination matches your request- what matters most is that you are supporting an artist who will make something you truly enjoy.

How much do commissions cost?

This depends on the size of the commission and the medium. On average, a 10”x10” egg tempera painting will cost around $500.00.

I charge by the square inch ($4 per square inch) for the hours of painting, then add a materials fee and PA taxes.

A non-refundable deposit, counted towards the overall cost, is required before I begin.

Do you write traditional icons?

Yes- but only by commission.

Christian iconography is a tool used by Christians for contemplative prayer to God. The icon is meant to be a visual window into scripture and the lives of the saints to remind the viewer of the goodness of the Triune God. The icon itself is not the object of worship. We worship only God, who cannot be contained in or by anything made by people.

I am currently studying traditional byzantine iconography, though I do not consider myself an iconographer by vocation. I can, however, write a custom icon of your choosing, in the traditional methods, which will be unsigned (icons are made anonymously). A separate certificate of information and authenticity will be included.

Christian iconography only, please.
